Keep noon until 2:00 p.m. open on your calendar on Tuesday, August 17th and stop in at the Hibbing Public Library. The University of Minnesota Extension, Arrowhead Library System and the Library will be presenting a workshop on "Sustainable Landscaping, Shoreland Buffers & Rain Gardens".
First (noon until 1:00 p.m.) is "Top 10 Tips for Sustainable Landscaping". Do you have a landscaping project in mind? Get started by learning 10 tips for designing and installing a sustainable landscape for your home focused on plant health and longevity. The instructor will be Julie Weisenhorn, Assistant Extension Professor/ Director, University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Program.
From 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. the program will be about "Residential Shoreland Buffers and Rain Gardens". Learn how you can conserve and use rain water in your landscape with shoreland buffers and rain gardens that capture this important resource and prevent runoff into our lakes and rivers. The instructor for this hour will be Eleanor Burkett, Associate Extension Professor / University of Minnesota Extension Shoreland Team.
This program is free and open to all that are interested. The project was funded in part or in whole with money from the Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
